The Happy Hollow/Loker PTO (in conjunction with the Claypit Hill PTO) is pleased to launch the 2011-2012 annual Gift Your Child fundraising campaign. Gift Your Child is a two-part campaign and the primary way through which families, teachers, and the community at large are able to make contributions in support of our elementary schools’ PTOs. Part 1 kicks off the third week of September when orange envelopes will come home via backpack with information on our fall fundraising drive and on how you can donate. In order to maintain past levels of support to our students, teachers and programs, the PTO asks families to donate $100 per elementary school child; however, contributions of any amount are welcome and appreciated. 100% of your contribution directly supports PTO educational enhancements in our elementary schools.Your donation is not only tax-deductible, but is also eligible for employer matching programs—a great way to double the impact of your gift! Part 2 will take place during the winter, and is when we ask teachers, local camps, and community organizations (police, fire, businesses, etc.) to donate items or experiences which will then be available for elementary school students’ families to bid on through a backpack, silent-style auction, the proceeds of which also go directly to the Wayland Elementary Schools PTO. The PTO’s annual elementary school budget for 2011-2012 is $104,500. The PTO anticipates spending approximately $100 per elementary school child through all of our educational enhancement programs when the budget is fully-funded.With approximately 1,100 children attending our elementary schools, this means that each family would need to donate $100 or more per child in order to maintain our previous levels of support. In the past, these funds have supported cultural enrichment programs such as artist, musician, and illustrator visits to our schools; they have provided supplies to classrooms including white board easels, textbooks, sensory tools, and theme-related materials; and they have subsidized field trips, purchased playground equipment, and sponsored grade-level enrichment events for our children. To see more of what Happy Hollow and Loker did last year with your Gift Your Child donations, see our Did You Know? page. Gift Your Child can only succeed with full participation from the elementary school community. We thank you for your past contributions, and hope you will join us again in fulfilling our mission to enrich the educational experiences of all our children.
