Hang Summer Pictures: Each summer Mr. Lee asks the students to drop off a drawing or writing about their summer. These submissions are mounted on colored paper and hung around the school before school starts and during the first couple weeks.

Marketing: The Marketing Chair has two primary responsibilities: 1) assist in promoting upcoming PTO events on the sandwich board outside of HH and for large events, in the Wayland Town Crier. 2) informing the community about when and how PTO funds are being used by writing articles about events and resources provided by PTO funds for the PTO newsletter and Wayland Town Crier.

Faculty/Staff Appreciation: We all know how hard the faculty and staff work at our school. Several times throughout the year the PTO takes the time to show our appreciation with a start of school breakfast and end of year luncheon as well as in other various ways. The Appreciation committee also coordinates, and sets up any retirement parties and end of year gifts.

Grounds and Courtyard: Do you have a green thumb? Help keep our school gardens beautiful with maintaining our front garden and courtyard with basic garden needs; planting, weeding, raking, watering, etc. A great opportunity if you want to be involved but at your convenience.

Green Team: The Green Team is a Wayland schools’ organization building on a movement to not only promote green and sustainable schools and communities, but to inspire our students to become better stewards of the planet. The volunteer will help coordinate internal “green” initiatives including paper and plastic recycling, Earth Day and other activities, educational presentations, and work with other committees (i.e. health and wellness, Student Council, and other Wayland schools) to promote walk to school days, No Idling, ‘Green weeks”, the use of reusable containers, etc. This person will also work with teachers to encourage more “stewardship” in the classrooms.

Just Like Me: Coordinate or volunteer for this educational program. Just Like Me runs in the fall in 4th grade, the spring in 3rd grade. Just Like Me is a handicap awareness program that helps children understand differences and see similarities in all people. No experience necessary.

METCO Liaison: Coordinate METCO Family Friends Network! The goal of our Family Friends program is to support relationships between our Wayland and Boston families. The network works to connect families in both communities by attending events together (for example the Back to School picnic taking place at HH this year or the MLK Dinner), inviting friends over for playdates for which buses are provided to and from Wayland and Boston, inviting Boston friends to stay after school when there are evening activities and meeting their parents at the event.
